This audio/podcast provides a recording of The Psychology Foundation of Canada's Annual Breakfast presentation (approximately 45 minutes in total), as follows:
1) An introduction from Dr. Eric Jackman, President of PFC and introduction of Karen Buck, Chair of PFC;
2) Some words from Karen Buck: some sobering statistics on youth mental health in Canada and description of PFC's programs and how they are playing a role in positively impacting our community; an introduction of Margaret McCain;
3) The Honourable Margaret McCain - KEYNOTE ADDRESS; Mrs. McCain talks about how we desperately need to put science into action by creating a system in Canada to help our children get the best start in life, ultimately improving our community and our economy. In addition, she makes reference to a number of researchers and reports where further information can be resourced on the topic. She herself has most recently co-authored the "Early Years Study 2: Putting Science into Action" with J. Fraser Mustard and Dr. Stuart Shanker which can be obtained from the Council for Early Child Development (www.coucilecd.ca).
