Don W. Smith is Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Mackenzie Financial in Toronto and Investors Group Inc. in Winnipeg. He started with Mackenzie in 2000 and assumed responsibility for managing both human resources functions when Investors Group acquired Mackenzie in 2002. He is also a member of the executive team for both companies. Previously, Don was Senior Vice President of Human Resources with the CUMIS Group in the credit union system across Canada. Prior to the CUMIS Group, he was Vice President of Human Resources for 12 years, with Rogers Communications.

Don is currently a Board member for the Manitoba Business Leaders Network Inc. and was on the Advisory Board of the HR Council for the Voluntary/Non-Profit Sector based in Ottawa. He received his Bachelor of Science at York University in Toronto and attained his CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation in 1989.
